Jörg Schäfer

Master Degree in business administration


After studying business administration in Cologne and Los Angeles (USA), Jörg Schäfer worked at various international investment banks in the area of mergers and acquisitions. His primary focus here was on the plant engineering and mechanical engineering sectors as well as the manufacturing industry. Since joining GTP Schäfer in 2006, Jörg Schäfer has been responsible for the commercial areas, exports and sales.



Thomas Schäfer



Prior to graduating from the Rheinische Fachhochschule in industrial engineering, specialising in production engineering, Thomas Schäfer served an apprenticeship to the trade of industrial mechanic, qualifying with distinction. After completing his studies, Thomas Schäfer joined the company in 2000, taking up the post of technical manager. He is concerned primarily with continually improving the efficiency of the production processes by optimising existing facilities and developing new machinery and systems. He is also responsible for product development and technical customer support.



Jürgen-Michael Schäfer

Dipl.-Ing., Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing.

Jürgen-Michael Schäfer studied engineering from 1966 to 1970 at the Rhineland-Westphalian Technical University of Aachen, specialising in foundry engineering. During the same period, he completed a further course of study in industrial engineering, also graduating in this subject. After completing his studies, Jürgen-Michael Schäfer continued his family’s involvement in the foundry industry in the third generation, taking over sales operations for refractory materials, coatings and exothermic products for use at foundries. He founded GTP Schäfer GmbH in 1988, acting as the company’s managing sole proprietor from the outset.



Tobias Hesse


After serving his apprenticeship in foundry mechanics focusing on the production and techniques of hand molding, Tobias Hesse finished his advanced training as an industrial master specialized in foundry technology. At the same time, he was working in a German foundry in which he was responsible for productivity improvements as well as the reduction of casting rejects in hand-molded castings up to 12 tons in weight. Afterwards, he worked for two years as the manager of a Swiss hand molding foundry before joining GTP Schaefer in 2013.



Nick Richardson


After serving a foundry apprenticeship specializing in Foundry Technology and Metallurgy, Nick Richardson worked as a foundry metallurgist and technical manager within the UK cast metals industry. In 2007, following a successful foundry career, he started to work as the Global Foundry Applications Technology Manager for S&B Industrial Minerals (IKO) specializing in the application of bentonite and carbon additives for green sand molding. Now having more than 30 years of experience focusing on the art of producing high-quality, defect-free castings, Nick joined GTP Schaefer as an Application Technology and Export Sales Manager in 2015. His responsibilities include technical and customer support of existing non-German European and international foundries.
